American Girl has entered a content licensing agreement with Amazon to make Amazon Prime Video the exclusive premium subscription streaming home for its first animated series, WellieWishers. Starting Oct. 14, the first of 26 WellieWishers episodes will be available for free for all customers through theAmazon Video app on TVs, connected devices, mobile devices, or online, with all subsequent episodes available exclusively for Amazon Prime members at no additional cost to their membership. Introduced in June, American Girl’s WellieWishers’ line of dolls, early chapter books, and digital play experiences helps girls ages 5 to 7 develop the social and emotional skills they need to be a good friend.
The WellieWishers’ content will be 11-minute animated episodes and will follow the adventures of the five smart and lively WellieWishers’ characters—Willa, Kendall, Ashlyn, Emerson, and Camille. When the WellieWishers step into their colorful rain boots, they are ready for anything in their aunt’s whimsical backyard garden.
The WellieWishers’ characters and stories were developed with the help of American Girl author Valerie Tripp. To ensure the educational quality of the newWellieWishers animated series, each episode was reviewed by Dr. Natascha Crandall, a psychologist and educator with a special interest in enhancing children’s growth and development through media.
